☆ INTRODUCTION

An author is a person who writes literary works like poems, stories, novels, dramas, and essays. The role of an author is very important in literature because authors share their thoughts, feelings, imagination, knowledge, and life experiences through writing. Their works help readers understand people, society, and different ideas.

1) AUTHOR AS A MIRROR OF SOCIETY

An author acts like a mirror of society by showing real life in literature. Through stories and poems, authors describe the culture, traditions, beliefs, social problems, values, and lifestyle of people. They also show how society changes with time. In this way, literature helps readers learn about the world around them.

Example: Charles Dickens wrote about poverty and social inequality in England through his novels.

For example, an author may write about poverty, education, inequality, family, or social change.

 2) AUTHOR EXPRESSES THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS

An author uses literature to share personal thoughts, emotions, beliefs, opinions, and life experiences with readers. Through poems, stories, novels, and essays, authors express feelings such as love, happiness, sadness, hope, fear, and anger. Their writing helps readers understand different emotions and see life from different points of view. In this way, literature creates a strong emotional connection between the author and the reader.

Example: In many poems, poets express their feelings about love, nature, or loneliness, and readers can easily relate to those emotions.

3) AUTHOR AS A CREATOR

An author is a creator who uses imagination and creativity to build interesting stories and new ideas. Authors create different characters, places, events, and situations that make literature enjoyable and meaningful. They can create both real and imaginary worlds through their writing. Their creativity helps readers imagine new experiences and explore different worlds through books.

Their creativity makes literature interesting, meaningful, and enjoyable.

Example: J. K. Rowling created the magical world of Harry Potter with unique characters, places, and adventures.

4) AUTHOR EDUCATES AND INSPIRES

An author does not write only to entertain people. Through literature, authors teach important values, life lessons, and moral ideas. Their stories, poems, and essays inspire readers to think in a new way and make good decisions in life. Literature helps people learn, grow, and understand the world better.

Example: Many stories teach lessons about honesty, kindness, courage, and hard work, which inspire readers in everyday life.

A good literary work can encourage readers to learn, question, understand, and improve themselves

5)AUTHORS GIVES VOICE TO SOCIETY

Authors help people express their thoughts, feelings, and problems through literature. They write about the lives of ordinary people and speak for those who are ignored or unheard. In this way, literature becomes a voice for society and brings attention to social issues.

Authors can write about social injustice, discrimination, poverty, freedom, and other important issues.

6) AUTHOR PRESERVES CULTURE AND HISTORY

Authors keep the culture, history, language, and traditions of their society alive through literature. Their writings show how people lived, what they believed, and the customs they followed. In this way, literature helps future generations learn about the past.

7) AUTHOR AS AN OBSERVER :

An author watches the world carefully and learns from everyday life. They observe people, nature, society, and different situations around them. These observations help the author create meaningful stories

MY OPINION,
an author is much more than a person who writes books. An author is a creative person who observes the world, shares ideas, teaches valuable lessons, and speaks about society. Through literature, authors not only entertain readers but also help them understand life, people, and the world around them.
 poems, and other literary works.

✨ Different Version

“An author does not just write stories; an author turns ideas, feelings, and experiences into meaningful literature.”

☆INTRODUCTION

Poetry is one of the most important and oldest forms of literature. It expresses human feelings, thoughts, and experiences in a creative way. A poet uses rhythm, imagination, and vivid images to make poetry meaningful and beautiful. Poetry is not just for enjoyment; it also helps us understand life, nature, people, and society better.

The Nature and Elements of Poetry - Poetry as an Interpretation of Life

1. What is the Nature of Poetry?
Poetry is not just rhyming words. Nature of poetry means what poetry is at its core.

Poetry is the most intense, musical, and condensed form of literature. While prose _states_ facts, poetry _interprets_ feelings about those facts.

According to William Wordsworth - _"Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings recollected in tranquility."

According to Matthew Arnold - "Poetry is at bottom a criticism of life."_ This means poetry interprets life, it judges, explains, and gives meaning to life.

 3 Natures of Poetry:
1. It is Subjective: It comes from the poet's inner heart (thoughts & feelings we made posters of).
2. It is Musical: It has rhythm, meter, rhyme - like a song.
3. It is Universal: A poet talks about his own sadness, but every reader feels it is _their_ sadness.

2. Elements of Poetry (What poetry is made of)

R-I-M-L-I-F-S

R - Rhythm & Meter: The beat of the poem. Like heartbeat. Example: da-DUM da-DUM (iambic). This is why Ballads can be sung.
I - Imagery: Word-pictures that we see, hear, smell. _Elegy_ uses imagery of dark graveyard, cold tombs.
M - Metre, Rhyme & Music: Rhyme makes it memorable. Musical devices like alliteration, assonance.
L - Language & Diction: Poet chooses special, beautiful, powerful words, not daily words.
I - Imagination: The poet's main power - to create what is not there.
F - Feeling & Emotion: The soul of poetry. Without emotion, it is just words.
S - Structure & Form: How poem is arranged - Stanza, Sonnet (14 lines), Elegy, Ballad, Epic, Ode, Lyric.

3. Poetry as an Interpretation of Life - HOW and WHY?

This is the most important part of your question.

WHY does poetry interpret life?

Because Science tells us HOW life works (photosynthesis, gravity), but Poetry tells us WHY life feels worth living. Science gives facts, Poetry gives _meaning_.

HOW does it interpret life? 3 Ways:

a) It Interprets Personal Life into Universal Truth:
A poet loses someone. He writes an _Elegy_. In the Elegy, he writes about his own tears. But when we read it, we remember our own lost loved ones. His personal grief becomes our universal grief.
Example: Thomas Gray's Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard - he sees poor villagers' graves and interprets the life of all poor, unknown people - that their life also had value, though history did not remember them.

b) It Interprets the Inner World, not just Outer World:
A novelist will say "The king fought a battle." An epic poet will say "What did the king FEEL before battle? Fear? Pride? Love for his country?" Poetry goes inside the mind.
Example: In Homer's The Iliad (Epic), it is not just about Trojan War. It interprets - What is bravery? What is anger? What is honour?

c) It Interprets Life by Making it Beautiful, Even Sad Life:
Life has sadness, death, failure. Poetry takes that sadness and makes it so beautiful that we can accept it.
Example: A Ballad like The Rime of the Ancient Mariner - it tells a horror story of a sailor who killed a bird and was cursed. But through musical storytelling, it interprets a deep truth of life: All creatures in nature are connected, and we must respect them.

Conclusion:

> Poetry is a Mirror and a Lamp. As a Mirror, it reflects life as it is - joys, customs, problems of society (as in your first poster). As a Lamp, it throws light on life and shows us the hidden meaning inside it - love, grief, hope, courage. That is why we say "Poetry is not just an imitation of life, it is an Interpretation of Life."
